It's getting easier and easier to be green at home. Unfortunately when running a business, decisions often comes down to getting the most you can for the least money, which often precludes opting to be green.
At Sweet Avenue we make every effort possible to make the right decision with all of our products, even if they cost us a bit more. As a business, we have the ability to heavily impact our environment, for better or worse based on the decisions we make. A wise man once said, "With great power comes great responsibility."
We've made the several important decisions that effect how we do business. All of our utensils are made from corn (yes, corn) and are 100% biodegradable. We don't use disposable plates, only vintage flea market-rescue ceramics, because re-using is just as important as recycling. We also limit our cleaning products wherever products to those that only kill germs, not the planet. We actively recycle everything possible, and encourage all of our customers to do the same. Our coffee cups are also made of recycled material with plant-based linings, not plastic or oil. Even our plastic bags (should you happen to need one) are made from recycled material.
Of course, it doesn't stop with environmentally friendly products. We also believe being green goes for what you eat and drink as well. For this reason, in our coffee area we don't offer artificial sweeteners processed with deadly chemicals. We offer real pure sugar, in addition to an assortment of natural alternatives such as agave nectar, Sugar in the Raw, and stevia.
