We just wanted to update you guys with this article from The Aquarian (written by Amanda Hansult) about Cupcakefest. It sounds like she had a great time and enjoyed the show as much as we enjoyed putting it on. All the bands went over pretty well, and she made a point to mention the awesome cause we raised money for.

This past week we participated in the annual Taste of Rutherford food fair. What the event basically amounts to is a selection of the restaurant and food vendors in town setting up tables on the main street and giving away samples to the public. People buy tickets for admission and get to enjoy samples from lots of Rutherford eateries, Sweet Avenue included. The event drew out more people than I thought even lived in Rutherford, and we were pretty much pinned to our table the entire time.

This was our first year doing it, and thanks to some warnings that the event is a LOT more popular than we had first anticipated we were able to weather the storm and give out over a thousand mini cupcakes and finish the entire event–2 and a half hours–before running out. We had a little variety, offering mini versions of Sexy Sadie, Jet Black, Snowball, and Chocolate Sundae. We think the little miniature Sundaes looked especially cute so we made extra of those, and we certainly needed them, as they proved to be among the most popular.

It was a lot of fun and I think our cupcakes went over pretty well (we had lots people coming back for seconds… and thirds… and sevenths…), so we’re glad everyone enjoyed themselves.

Hey guys, we actually managed to knock out another batch of wedding cupcakes recently. These turned out great. The customers ended up going with Sexy Sadie, Mint Chocolate, Black & White, and Snowballs. A little something to please everybody. These guys were delivered to Sabor Restaurant in Hawthorne, NJ, which was where the reception was held.

Last week the Bergen Record was kind enough to interview us and include a bunch of our photos in a cupcake story. You can see some of the highlights below. The front page of the Better Living section was an awesome spread of cupcakes from ours and other bakeries. We managed to snag 6 out of 9 spots on the front page from the other three bakeries, and we think our cupcakes look pretty awesome on newsprint!

This past Saturday was this year’s Central Park Cupcake Picnic which is becoming an annual event put on by the Cupcakes Take The Cake bloggers. Last year we made Subway-themed cupcakes for the picnic, so this year we decided to make a batch of cupcakes with their name on them (literally). We think the cupcakes came out great, and we hear they went over really well with the picnickers.

We hope everyone at the picnic liked the cupcakes! Before the torrential downpour, anyway. Now we just have to start planning something even more awesome for next year.

This pink and brown cupcake tier was delivered to the Landmark in East Rutherford, NJ for a Confirmation party. This tier held 75 cupcakes made up of Little Cutie (chocolate cake with dark chocolate frosting) and Strawberry Fields (vanilla cake with strawberry frosting). The cake topper was provided by the client, and we think the whole set up for the event looked gorgeous!

As we mentioned in the last post, we’ve got a few new Summer seasonal cupcakes. Here’s the second of the bunch. The Coconut Lime cupcake has a lime zest cake filled with fresh coconut cream, topped with coconut-lime frosting and a lime candy. It’s sort of like a piña colada and a key lime pie got in a fight, and everyone won.

We’re happy to announce the arrival of the newest addition to our cupcake lineup. The Kiwi Strawberry is the first of a handful of new Summer seasonal specials. This cupcake has a kiwi cake filled with fresh strawberry filling, topped with strawberry frosting and a half strawberry. We think it’s a pretty special cupcake, so you’ll be able to pick up Kiwi Strawberry cupcakes from now through the end of Summer. We’ll be rotating it with a few other as-yet-unannounced Summer seasonal flavors on a daily basis.

Apparently we got so busy that we totally forgot to post about our recent remodeling. A few weeks ago we had our new custom-made modular cupcake rack installed. As you can see from the photo, if gives us a TON more space to store and display delicious cupcakes, which means more for you to pick from every day. We’re super happy with how it turned out, and we think it looks fantastic in the shop.

This tier was delivered to Varka in Ramsey, NJ. It was designed for a little boy’s Christening. Yep, it’s pretty awesome, and likely very tasty.
